Share the delights of Autumn

We hope that you are refreshed from your summer break and full of energy for the Autumn. Now is the time to look forward to a season of change; children are making new starts, moving rooms in settings and starting schools for the first time.

Aspiring and looking forward is a lovely focus to start the Autumn term so why not try Judith Harries’ Early Years activity Reaching for the Stars which is a positive look at Personal Social and Emotional Development and behaviour? You could also use World Dream Day on 25th September to share the children’s dreams with Angelina Sprocket’s Pockets. You can use our search by EYFS area to find all of our activities with a PSED focus.

If your children are interested in food, look out for our cooking activities like Apple Crisps and Hedgehog Rolls to link with themes of harvest or hibernation. When the Autumn leaves fall, you could take a look at Alistair Bryce-Clegg’s lovely activity Leaf Globe which promotes fine motor control and scissor skills, and also prompts lots of discussion about the changes that at this time of year.

We have also added a new Ideas page to help you provide EYFS activities which develop vocabulary and some new Free Activities to get you started this term. With over 2500 activities, there is plenty at Bloomsbury Early Years to inspire you as a practitioner and help you to reach for the stars too.
